Hello Constant Crafter,
My name is Peter and I'm the creator of Crafted in Timber. I live, work and craft in Melbourne, Australia.
A little bit about me. I have a beautiful wife and three lovely daughters and all five of us are makers. We love making things. We are the family that spends weekends cutting potatoes in half to make stamps, or building dioramas from shoeboxes. We handmake our own birthday presents for each other along with the perfect pop-out birthday card. We try to create something everyday.
My wife is an avid knitter. Is this you or do you have one in your life? A car trip, watching tv or watching the local cricket game are perfect times to whip out needles and yarn and catch an hour or two on the tools.
One day her knitting ruler broke, by accident. It was a small tension square ruler, and I thought 'I can make one of those!' I made one for her for a birthday present, and then improved on the design and made a new one for her for a Mothers Day gift. It was very satisfying to create a functional tool that was beautiful to look at, to use, to hold.
It grew from there. I made more things for family and friends and slowly ran out of people to gift to. I realised that there were not really people creating tools for knitters and crafters in the Southern Hemisphere.
So I hope to design, create and offer beautiful Australian made tools and items for crafters. I look forward to joining with you on your craft endeavours!
Yours in Craft,
Peter
